With what's happening in Dallas, if the shooters' motive is what one would suspect, you sure aren't kidding.

Even for all we are supposedly so desensitized to gun violence, all these cell videos are pretty chilling, outrageous, hopeless.

I don't want to argue this makes my point about racism for me or go on about guns for the billionth time.

Even though this is the politics forum.

So just.

Fuck yeah, America.

My country's police force is far, FAR from perfect, but I'm beyond happy that they're not (as) full of complete sociopaths, narcissists and cowards who would jump at their own shadows that are taught to be deathly afraid of EVERYTHING and to respond with lethal force at the drop of a hat. Is there another developed country in the world that has anywhere even close to such a horrible record of cops gunning down and murdering innocents?

Let's not even get into the fact that they almost always get away with it with maybe a slap on the wrist, if even that as seemingly everyone in the justice system works overtime to find some way to justify it so they can sweep it under the rug and keep trucking along. Your cops are fucking shit, America. Train them properly and don't let just anyone get the job, since there's currently clearly a significant number of them who shouldn't be handling firearms at all, let alone to also be in a position of authority.

I think part of the problem is that we treat the police as too damn special, because the rest of us don't want to have to do their job. My solution - mandatory citizen police service.

I don't know if there's another developed country with our level of gun ownership and gun crime rates either. Over 300 homicides and 2000 shootings already this year... in Chicago.

Ironically cops and people like the head of the FBI who just pardoned Hillary are saying the problem is the opposite, the so-called Ferguson Effect-- cops are too shy to use force now for fear of being the next viral police video.

So they apparently used a kamikaze robot to kill one of the shooters in Dallas.

There are a lot of issues here... overmilitarized police accustomed to excessive force with racial bias, which is nonetheless unable to rein in an epidemic of gang violence, a nation drowning in guns, racially biased mass incarceration, a failing economy and unresponsive political system in addressing these problems. The frustration may continue to boil over both in statistics and these high profile shootings.

Next stop is President Trump taking notes from Philippines President Duterte and forming vigilante squads to dump dead black people en masse into Lake Michigan.

Of course we all know this is a hoax / false flag / conspiracy by our divider in chief Obama / George Soros to distract people from globalization / Hillary / martial law / takin ur gunz / yeehaw the race war is finally here.

Training could help, but ultimately I think it comes down to race. That & the fact they're taught to view the African-American community & poor of this nation as constant threats to their lives.

How does dropping a concrete block on a police officer's head help anyone?

Or they could stop dropping concrete blocks on people's heads and not shut up? In principle it's a peaceful movement that is doing its job of being disruptive and shining light on a real problem in America and making racists and Fox anchors squirm and cry about it, but they can't account for the actions of everyone who joins these protests, and it has taken on a sort of underbelly of the campus social justice mob mentality with lawlessness and bigotry in the opposite direction. It's a bit ironic to blame all white people or all cops when protesting violent institutional racism caused by generalizations about black people, but that irony could be overlooked so long as they don't make it a moral equivalence by committing violence against the ones they're generalizing.

Of course most of the protesters aren't, and the Dallas shooter wasn't affiliated with BLM and was upset with BLM for not being violent enough. As for other forms of lawlessness like shutting down a bridge, well, no one gives a shit about your protest if you don't inconvenience them a little bit, though there's probably a better way than shutting down a road needed for emergency services, but if Chris Christie's fat ass can shut down bridges by himself and he still gets to be VP, these petulant children can hopefully be tolerated to do it without calling in the predator drones.
