The origin of Snoke will be shown in Episode 9 if the supposed leaked script I looked over is real, and I have to say it is the most disappointing and unimaginative way they could have gone. There is a scene where Kylo Ren tracks down a place that Snoke had been previously, ExGol, and there Kylo comes across a lab filled with a bunch of tanks of Snoke in differing stages of development. Further in Kylo encounters Emperor Palpatine himself. So there we have it, Snoke was created by Palpatine. In fact, it can be inferred that Palpatine might have been directly controlling Snoke as all abilities we saw Snoke use were ones that Palpatine possessed. This massively sucks as this reduces Snoke from a character to a mere prop. Really, they should have had Snoke come back in 9, revealed him to be Darth Plagueis, and had his "death" in TLJ be an intentional act to drive Kylo further down the dark side. . I've also seen two different supposed explanations for Palpatine surviving the second Death Star and both of them are garbage. Honestly, they probably could have given him a better version of the Force Projection that Luke used in TLJ and reveal that was what got tossed down the Death Star shaft, it would have been more believable, less cringeworthy, and would have been another way the sequel trilogy could have tied into the original trilogy. Instead the two explanations I have seen are 1) Palpatine converted himself into pure Force Energy after being tossed and spent 30 years travelling through space before coming to ExGol and reforming his body. This is a hard no for me chief, that's so stupidly overpowered and uncounterable that it isn't even funny 2) he foresaw Vader's betrayal and had a clone waiting on the Death Star. I hate this soooo much too. I think cloning a force user should have serious consequences (like a malformed appearance like Snoke; although Snoke could have been part clone and part genetic engineering) not to mention that if he knew Vader would betray him then why not kill him? He was strong enough to kill either Vader or Luke, probably both, there was literally no benefit to him hiding away for thirty more years. In short, I hope these leaks are garbage because bleh.
