Disney is full of shit and in full damage control right now, I honestly won't be doing my first viewing of the film in theaters. I'll almost bet you real money that they are baiting with the Palpatine laugh and that Ian McDiamard won't be anywhere in the film, but some new actor playing Palaptine instead. If that's the case then Disney is being purposefully misleading to sell tickets.



That said, George Lucas came out recently (like a month or two ago) and stated a few things about his ST plans. The protagonist was going to be female, Han was going to die in 7, Leia was going to be trained to be a Jedi Master by Luke in 8 alongside protagonist, Emperor was going to be pulling the strings the entire time and come out of the shadows at the climax of 8, Luke was going to die in 9 destroying the Emperor, while protagonist and Leia founded New Jedi Order. I'll see if I can't find a link, but don't have time right now.

All they had to do was NOT ditch the EU. They could have set the sequel trilogy after the point where the old EU ended. Ford, Fisher and Hamill were all at the exact age of the characters. They would have had lots of established, and well loved, new characters as well. And they could just re-release 500+ novels for new fans who wanted to get into it. It was all there. Everyone would have been happy.

It was staggeringly poorly handled. KK is to blame. She hired that incompetent Story-group, and they did this. Them and Pablo Hidalgo.

Cool visual absolutely gutted by what happened with a similar formation of ships in TLJ, was the very first thing I thought of seeing this. Holdo would have a field day.

I suppose it makes sense if they're imperial. They're from a time when such things weren't possible XD

Mostly just OT and PT stuff to pull at the heartstrings at fans, because nobody gives a damn about the flat new characters.

And the fleet, sadly is not intimidating since all the Resistance needs to do is get a bunch of cheap ships and droids, and have the droids pilot the ships and hyperspace through them - win. Thank you Rian.
