I'm sure retconning and universe/continuity resets have helped cause this. Resets are bound to happen every few years now and it just sucks because it undoes all (at least for me) sense of progression. You have the characters: de-age, come back from the dead, forget their experience, etc. It's just a cheap and bogus thing to do from a writing perspective and it isn't fair to the readers that have invested the time and money into following those characters' adventures and trials.

I am not so sure...

As successful as TFA? Nope...but like Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man and so on? Probably...

Because how many space-based action movies are tehre anyway? With space-battles, aliens, laser-gunfights and so on? And without taking place even remotlyon our Earth? I can only speak for myself but I am really craving for this...

Also, Marvelitis isn't a bad diseas in my book. I have yet to come across one that bored me, did not entertain me, or I didn't want to watch a second or third time. They are fun, and have likeable characters that usually are focused on instead of the action - or plot, which is the weakness sometimes. But TFA has assured me that Lucasfilm is capable of creating great new characters to carry a movie, and so I will give the new movies fair chances...

Though I have to say: I am an odball as Star Wars fan, as I have no problem at all with even a Han Solo movie (hopefully with no Jedi even close to it) and don't see that as blasphemy ^^

I've read a while back that Episode VIII will be released in May 2017, so that gives us 5 months gap instead of the 1 and a half year between one Star wars movie and another.

If you're a comic book writer and manage to sell 10,000 copies, pat yourself on the back b/c that's considered successful. It's very hard to do better than that.

Earth

My town doesn't have a movie theater... Well, it does, but they only play a single movie all month and that movie wasn't Star Wars 7, so they might as well not exist. The next town over from where I went to college has a nice little movie theater and they have had their ticket prices as $5 for years, but that's only if you make it before 6PM, then the ticket price is $7. Speaking of $7, that's how much the 3-D showings cost per ticket if you can make it before 6PM. You can also get two extra large drinks and an extra large popcorn for $10 (they really are super large). The theater isn't super fancy, but it's nice and gets the job done.
