That day when Mel woke up after Ramsay and his 20 good men had set up some sort of bomb or some sort of time-delay ignition device, she wakes up and walks out of her tent, something seemed amiss to her. A few seconds later *BOOM*, you see a flaming horse gallop by. After that incident, Mel looked like she had lost her composure. She goes back to Castle Black, and she's all bundled up when she gets there w/ a sullen look upon her face. She's cold. Does she even have her powers anymore? Anyways, if Jon Snow is resurrected, what do you think his first order of business will be? To behead everyone involved in the plot to assassinate him? Even Olly? Not that I'd miss Olly, what w/ his pissy attitude, and then luring Jon Snow out of his quarters, where he would be murdered out in the courtyard, and then participating in the actual murder itself. Mel has definitely lost her way at this point, and the clear decline in "warmth" I think is meant to reflect that. It represents the loss of faith she's experiencing in Stannis, in herself, and maybe even in the Lord of Light. To me, she's actually undergoing a similar arc to Thoros. During his chat with Mel in Season 3, he recounts how he basically reached the lowest point in his faith, before R'hllor finally answers a prayer and shows him a miracle, restoring him to even greater faith than before... that miracle being the miracle of resurrection. This is what I think will happen to Mel and I think the writers are drawing that parallel on purpose. The Red God will bring Jon back, and Mel will experience a kind of revival of her own. The manner of Jon's resurrection will be interesting. I think he'll be put on a funeral pyre per NW custom and burned, only to either come back to life while on the pyre (likely after Melisandre gives some kind of halfhearted funeral rite like Thoros did)... or better yet, rise from the ashes of the pyre alive like Dany did in Season 1. I kinda like the latter and hope that's what will happen. (The important thing here is that Jon himself is not burned, which further connects him to a certain fan theory) As for what's gonna happen when Jon comes back, I suspect there will be some hell to pay. I think Thorne and his lackeys will pin Jon's murder on Olly in order to keep the Night's Watch from tearing itself apart internally or triggering a possible Wildling attack. When Jon appears however, he might reveal who the true culprits are and force a conflict between the men loyal to Jon and the mutineers. Olly might die in this conflict, but he might not. It depends on Jon really. Regardless, Jon will either retake control of the Night's Watch or abandon them. He's technically no longer bound to serve the the NW since he died. He could leave and join up with Tormund and the Wildlings instead. EDIT: Yes, I know Jon burned his hand fighting that wight in Season 1. It doesn't mean that he remains vulnerable to fire forever though. I believe some magic is involved in Dany's seeming immunity to fire, and it will be involved in Jon's if that ends up being the case. You think he might just leave the NW and let them go on pretending that there is no threat of Others, or to mount an ineffectual defense on their own. Maybe Jon would go join the Wildlings in The Gift. Maybe before he leaves the NW he sends everyone involved in the assassination plot out on a ranging mission so that they can see what's coming for them. Olly cries like a bitch. Regardless, Thorne must go, as in die. Jon was kind enough to make his tormenter First Ranger instead of sending him far away to a distant outpost on the Wall. Also, if Mel is gonna resurrect him, it'll be like how Thoros resurrected Beric. I don't know if there'll be an epic funeral pyre resurrection, thus becoming Jon the Unburnt. That would be cool, I suppose. If Stannis was spared, maybe he encounters Jon Snow later on, after he's recovered from his wounds, and legitimizes him. And you know about R+L=J. Let's not forget about Sam who, before leaving to apply for graduate school, was Jon's only remaining friend. What will Sam major in at the Citadel? Will his dissertation be about? Sam wants to be the new maester of the NW.
