I haven't read the books, so I have no real idea what Stannis was like. I've been told that Stannis is a cool dude in the novels, and that in the show, he was made to look like an ass, or say, a Stannass? Anyways, why all the hostility towards the fans of a dead character on the show? Picture the man in season two and multiply it by ten. He's honorable, blunt and fair to a ridiculous fashion. He's not a soft man and is a very competent leader. That said he has his faults, his own Maester's death at the hands of a poison he tried to use on the fire witch brought nothing out of him despite him knowing the man basically as a father figure since childhood. He's cold, can be ruthless and is an implacable foe when he needs to be. And he has a very thin line where betrayal is concerned. Basically the best candidate by far for power. Well, if that's the kind of man he was in the books, then that seems all good. I'm rather neutral on book Stannis.
