I just read through Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by Ann Rice. Someone recommended it to me as BDSM done right, in response to 50 Shades of Grey (which I'll have to suffer through later). I don't find myself interested in erotica type books, so I won't do a massive post on it. But it was pretty good until the end where it felt like it was rushed into 2 pages. I was trying to figure out what happened which contrasted from the rest of the book where everything was pretty detailed while this might have been a technique to emphasis the situation it wasn't that well done.

Next I'm going to read the 3rd book in Brent Weeks' Lightbringer series. If you want to see an author with talent grow you should read his books. The Night Angel trilogy uses a small scale multi-perspective focus which you'll see how it can fail quite easily (he ends up introducing too many characters and not give enough page time for them) and the protagonist is the weakest character in the series though he's not bad... he's just forgettable until the 2nd book where he starts becoming a little more 3D. Though the rest of the characters are what hold the story up.

Also Twilight gets worse the more you get into it with its themes.

I'll add it to the list of things I need to buy. Though it'll take a while for me to get it.

I have the whole series, actually. Been sitting on my shelf for a few years. I think I might start that one once I am done with Raymond Feist.

While not my type of read from the start (read it to know what the hype was about), I could understand the appeal it would have on the masses (especially girls), since it follows some very classic stereotypes: clumsy girl who sees herself as nothing special (but happens in the eyes of others to be very attractive) attracts the attentions of the overly-sexy-but-entirely-unreachable-for-other-females guy. Put a little tension in there in form of the almost-as-attractive rebel who contends for her affections with dude no. 1 and you have yourself the classic teenage love triangle. Which can only go one way, though, since the rebel always loses when there is a beautiful man and undying love involved. SO MANY EMOTIONS, it makes it difficult to breathe. :[

Picked up Andrzej Sapkowski's 'Blood of Elves' a couple of days ago. Never read any of his works, so I'm curious to see how the Witcher games actually relate to the books.

Soon as I finally finish Chuck Palahniuk's transgressive-escpade that is Survivor I'll go for Inherent Vice -- A noire and psychedelic romp, it's that particular noire which isn't picaresque, but the kind that fairs its interest on in depth writing and studies of criminal milieu and characterization as opposed to being a by-the-book-detective story. It's right up my alley, anyway.
