Not really, no. The best approach would be to isolate King's Landing as much as possible. Cut off any supply routes, either through a blockade or specific acts of piracy. All Dany and the Starks need do is wait. They can, in the meantime, solidify their alliances and positions elsewhere, rebuild their armies and fleets. Eventually, Cersei will either run out of money to pay the Golden Company (I'm unsure how she even hired them in the first place) or food to feed the people. If it's the former, King's Landing will be left more or less defenseless. If it's the latter, chances are the people will try to overthrow Cersei themselves (they probably hate her enough already). Naturally, all of this takes time that the writers don't have, and they'd rather turn Dany into the Mad Queen and have her do just about every thing that runs contrary to basic strategy.

In other words, there is no reason to attack Cersei right now other than that we have two episodes left and all the characters in GoT are idiots at this point so fuck 'em.

Where the fuck did that horse that appeared in front of Arya come from? There's nothing but charred corpses and rubble everywhere and this horse is just chilling in the middle of it all. How convenient!

I guess, in this case, hints and bits and pieces are actually better than a full blown explanation.

Plus I believe, in the books, her resistance to fire is given to her by The Lord of Light. No other Targaryen has been resistant to fire. The books and the show even stresses this.

Dany is one of the villains of the story (GRRMs version of it).

But the show has kind of failed at showing her mental health declining. There has been nothing wrong with her until she just started going bat shit crazy because "plot reasons".

There were so much foreshadowing about Dany and what she would do this episode. So much of it over all the seasons that this is literally the only thing I'm not going to slap D&D for. The foundation for this has been built for a long time, what irks me is more the execution

Varys got exectued because Tyrion told Dany that he was just a tiny bit disloyal.. and the scene with the spy-kid working in the kitchen is a pretty clear way of saying that Varys deal with poison.

Unimpressed by the episode in general but it is mostly down to the execution of almost all the plot points and that the episode had to handle the baggage of previous episodes dumbness. Not the worst episode and not the best and an okay way to start my monday on.

I have to agree with Rah, there was some degree of buildup throughout the show to this. Here's my problem: It's almost as if no one is grey characters in this series anymore. It's like they either have to try and be benevolent and retarded all the time or have an evil smirk as innocent people scream in agony. It'd have made complete sense if she was merciless to the enemies, I mean shes been like that since that witch at the end of S1 who she burned alive, but in this case it felt like she was going out of her way to needlessly slaughter innocent people too.

GoT morality has become eerily similar to Bioware in which there's rarely any grey area anymore. Characters are either benevolent and trying to save 10 puppies or complete monsters and trying to slaughter 10 kittens, and most of the time it doesn't even make any god damn sense anymore, half of the characters are so retarded beyond belief I can't sympathize. It's like Tyrion walking up to the gates in the previous episode and trying to talk Cersei down. Seriously when did this character become so fucking moronic "you're not a bad person" are you fucking kidding me? Has Tyrion had a single plan or tried anything since S5 that actually worked? Aside from convincing Dany to let Jon have that Dragon Glass I can't think of anything, every single plan he comes up with is like "well, I'm just going to assume Cersei is a good person and keep her word and we're going to do the right thing". Remember season 2? Remember how Tyrion was running circles around everyone with his wits? Could you imagine S2 Tyrion trying to talk Cersei down by telling her she's a good person? What a joke.

The show made it sound like she'd be a monster to fly her dragons over to the Red Keep and fry Cersei even though that would have ended the war instantly and saved countless innocent lives, instead they're like "no we have to go about this war in such a way that doesn't hurt others" for multiple seasons as they made retarded decision after retarded decision to having her full on snap and go batshit crazy. And now she goes out of her way to be slaughtering innocents for absolutely no reason? What happened to character nuance? Like the army tries to surrender and Dany is suddenly like "hey lets start flying by random houses in the city and killing everyone and everything that moves indiscriminately"
