Lol. 'Trained police officers'. A lot of these guys qualify once or twice a year. NYPD dumps magazines, and graze the bad guy, while hitting civilians and shit. Civilian shooters practice far more than most police. Now Texas cops on the other hand... get sniped by a handgun, son! Then again, Texas is like 'take our guns and we'll kill youuuuuuuu Alamo and shiiiit!' so I doubt many would be going door to door to collect firearms. They'd probably try to secede lmao.
Aaaaanyways, I'd rather not be the guy that goes out in a shootout with the police. I actually like our local department, and our Sheriff is pro-gun as shit, so he'd be like 'Nah. I'm not enforcing that bullshit.' like his predecessor. If anything, I'd just hand over a couple shotguns, then display my unfortunate boat accident photo. They don't have to know I disassembled all of the AKs and buried them in the woods (maniacal laughter).
I carry a Springfield XD compact in .45 ACP. It has no manual safety switch, only a grip/trigger safety. At first it was weird, because I had previously carried a Bersa with one, but as long as you have a proper holster, you don't have to worry about any negligent discharges.
You shouldn't trust safeties anyway. As with anything mechanical, they are capable of failing. So...
KEEP YOUR BOOGER HOOK OFF THE BANG SWITCH!
You guys ever heard those stories on the news about a dude that died when his gun just 'went off'? Yeah, those are bullshit. A gun isn't just going to 'go off' unless...
A. Something (like a booger hook) pulls the trigger
or
B. There is something seriously fucked up inside your gun.
However, there are some old firearms that will discharge if dropped, like some old six guns, or shitty 80s pocket guns. Nothing you'd want to be trusting your life with.
