Sweet jesus Katee Sackhoff's accent is terrible. You'd think somebody would've stepped up and told her to just use her normal accent instead of whatever the fuck that's supposed to be the moment they started shooting her first scenes for the show. And I kinda hated the four hour Nazi invasion crossover. Spoiler tags just to be safe: I hated how like 80% of those 4 episodes seemed to be focused on multiple instances of relationship drama. The fight choreography seemed unusually goofy and shitty, like I was watching an episode of Power Rangers except one of the Rangers was punching people with a bow. Iris and Felicity, two tiny women with no powers or any sort of training are now knocking trained Nazi soldiers out with a single blow?
Stein got a pretty good death scene in spite of Jax's acting during it (he's mostly fine, but clearly can't do big emotional scenes like this), but then that's all overshadowed and cheapened by the fact that they don't end on a somber note after the funeral, they HAD to force an extremely saccharine wedding in at the end. It's ok to end on a downer every now and then, ffs. It completely undermined any impact that death and funeral scene had.
Oh and it had to be doubly cheesy by making it a double wedding? AND the only thing Diggle ever did for those entire 4 hours was to come in for the last 5 minutes to wed them? Really? Man, I'm starting to hate this crossover even more as I'm typing this. By now I'm convinced the writers don't know how to do relationships. Just take a look at Supergirl, with Mon-El/Kara (Jimmy/Kara before that) or Alex/Maggie. These are pairings that have zero chemistry. Heck Lena/Kara have more chemistry than the two put together. This is something that already happened in The Flash when they killed the Patty/Barry relationship, the only one that made sense, in favour of Iris/Barry, which may work for the comics but is and has been disastrous throughout the seasons. Not to mention how badly they ruined Felicity/Oliver.
On the Iris-Felicity partnership, I can't comment on the latter ('cause I'm not watching Arrow), but the writers doubled down on Iris this season and seemingly want her to be the Oracle of the team. What's wrong with being a good reporter, or a good policeman, or a good doctor, or a good anything-not-related-to-superheroes? I keep wishing Savitar had actually killed Iris last season.
