I myself am pro immigration. That said, I am quite relieved that there are anti-immigration proponents who aren't racists. Granted some of the language has been insensitive at times, but there has been no racism on this thread. It is nice, because I can have a conversation with you guys and acknowledge valid points even if I disagree. So thank you for not falling into the Hole of racism. (I was not being sarcastic). Well, that's the thing isn't it --- many people, mostly liberals, accuse someone of racism every time they speak out against immigration or mass immigration. They do the same thing when someone criticizes Islam; they even invented a word for it: Islamophobia. In their minds if you criticize Islam, you clearly have an irrational fear of the religion and therefore your arguments are nullified or entirely void of merit. On the show Real Time, Ben Affleck accused Bill Maher and Sam Harris of being racists just for criticizing the ideas of Islam, and for saying that even the so called moderates of the religion hold extreme views that western people would find reprehensible. Instead of offering a counter argument, Affleck just accuses both men of racism. People like Affleck have been indoctrinated into believing that Islam and the people who practice it are one in the same; they are incapable of separating the religion from the people who practice it. And it is only with Islam that they do this; they most certainly would not accuse someone of being a racist just for criticizing the ideas of Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Catholicism, etc. These words (racism, Islamophobia, bigot, offensive, etc.) have a purpose, and that is to shut down opposing views by stifling free speech. Now, when it comes to immigration I believe that normal levels of immigration for a country, that is to say, levels that are conservative and have been shown to prove that the country can continue to sustain itself and thrive within those levels, is not necessarily a bad thing as long as the immigrants arrive legally and integrate appropriately within the host country. However, mass immigration has proven to be very detrimental to a country and it's native denizens by causing severe economic, social, political, and religious strain. It ultimately causes division among the peoples of a country and then you eventually end up with something like Great Britain where, you have exclusive Islamic communities springing up and those people attempting to impose their own religious laws (Sharia) on the native citizens. Meanwhile, the government remains passive, lest they be accused of racism or Islamophobia.
