It's been terrible.  I expect a certain amount of America-centrism in my international sports broadcasts, but NBC has taken it to entirely new levels.  At least they finally mentioned Efimova's heart medication as a possible explanation for her positive testing.
I was watching rowing yesterday and the commentator either could not pronounce competitors names, or could not recall them because she kept referring to the "Belorussian Boat"

Oh and during the women's marathon coverage today, one of the announcers told a story about how Shalane Flannagan started out as a soccer player and then went to see her sister run cross country once and her mom (who formerly held the world record for the women's marathon) suggested she jump in and she won; therefore being exposed to competitive running entirely by "mere chance"
I yelled at the television for 5 minutes straight after that. 
I'm concerned with the announcers' command of the English language if they think growing up in a family of competitive runners is the definition of chance

Trash talking in this thread should be related to your favored country's athletic prowess, not their social policies.




*I know in Beijing in 2008 China had more gold medals than the US, but we had the higher medal count, so I'm just gonna roll with it for patriotism and propaganda purposes.  Makes for way better trash talking.
