If so, that cylinder would be the oil filter. They vary in color. That little doodad above it would be the oil sending unit, which is a common thing to be leaking on many cars. It'll leak a bunch, but is usually a cheap and easy fix, even if a shop does it for you.

I just had a brand new Fram bust the seal, waste two quarts of fresh oil and send me into a frenzy thinking that my block was cracked because I'd never heard of that happening. Caused a massive pain in the ass after I overreacted to the problem(I pulled the head so I could get a better look, my shitty torque wrench didn't properly tighten the bolts on the air intake, causing a leak in the intake gasket, and I wasn't able to have a second gasket delivered to my parts house in time) which prevented me from bringing my car to this run. All in all a shitty experience, went back with K&N brand filter.
