When I was in Iceland I saw these beauties. Absolutely everyone who lives there has a big ass monster truck with a winch, and sometime two winches and a snorkel. I rented a Galloper, and it was struggling on many roads, especially in the water. It also had some electric issues as well which is fun if the nearest town is a 6 hours drive away and you're in the middle of the Icelandic highlands.

I'd probably still be driving my '88 Camry, if that Lincoln town car didn't demolish it... and if I didn't cut the roof off and turn it into an ute... and I didn't have a child to drive around... I still have it though. I'll have to find some photos. Dealing in used cars, I've seen all the goofy shit that happens when cars put on age. Some of the better 90s rides tend to be Buicks. Hell, I've got a '92 Park Avenue on the lot right now. It's ugly, but runs great. The 3800 engine is damn near unstoppable. All hail the Pontiac V8.

Before that cars could easily live at least 10 years, if not 15 or 20 years. But indeed I'm not talking about Mercedes Benz, Chevrolet (Corvette) or Ford (Mustang). Casual/normal cars also used to be good.

Old ones. European stuff is hella pricey when it comes to parts and repairs here. Back in the 80s and 90s, Toyota built some quality shit, like my beloved Camry. I'm not sure how well these new ones will be holding up in ten years. This planned obsolescence type of shit has got me losing faith in newer cars. Putting plastic where metal should be... I've got an '08 Sonata on the lot that's a huge chunk of shit, while I've got a '96 Chevy Lumina that runs and drives well. Crazy, man. I know maintenance plays a part, but when you see the same shit in multiple cars of the same model, you know something was fucked from the factory. Kinda like GM gauge clusters from 00-05, or rear springs in the 00-05 Taurus. Those godforsaken 2.7 liter Chrysler engines... I hate the 2.7 with a passion. Anyways, I guess can't really say I'd never drive a French car...
