Just watched episode 74 and I literally can't stop crying. I love this franchise so much. To sum it up fast, Steven is the child of a human and an alien sentient gem called Rose Quartz. To make sure her son would survive childbirth, Rose sacrificed a part of herself so the child could be born. Steven is now part of the Crystal Gems, a team of superheroines from another planet that desire nothing more to protect planet Earth from their own race. They're considered rebels in their own nations and a lot of the lore behind their race is slowly being revealed as the story progresses. Steven represents the innocence of childhood and at the same time he is forced into a sad reality that the Crystal Gems face everyday due to the absence of their leader. It's a show about family, love and friendships and it's also heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. Sadly, the fandom right now is highly criticized due to an incident that pushed a fan artist to almost kill herself.

It felt like it was some sort of bad omen or hiatus thing. But It's admittedly grown on me by having sort of a "theme'd arc" to them. That is to say, each 5 episode batches all relate to the overall story, but are closely connected to one another through a characters development arc, some event, or just a general message. I would love if they came out once a month like clockwork however, rather then just whenever. I feel like these episodes are designed to be watched one after another, rather then on a 1 episode a week format. Certainly it feels good to see a cliffhanger in a middle episode and know you won't have to wait a week to see what happens.
