Nah... zombie apocalypse is the worst. That is literally game over. You'd be able to survive for a few months, MAYBE a few years. But a lifestyle of constant combat and vigilance is not sustainable by humans. We evolved with no natural predators - our biochemistry can't tolerate being hunted every second of the day.

I think people greatly overestimate what scientists can do when all underlying infrastructure and support is gone. The reason why science advances at such an amazing pace is that you have hundreds of thousands of scientists working, every day, towards numerous goals. These scientists are given huge budgets, large support staff, expensive facilities and all of their basic needs (food, shelter, safety, etc.) all taken care of for the most part, leaving them completely free to focus on their work.

The idea that just a handful of remaining scientists who would likely have little way of finding + communicating with each other and using scrapped together equipment with limited access to things like electricity or running water (let alone hi tech labs) would be able to cure a disease that was complex enough to stop the entire world in its tracks is not impossible, but definitely not something I'd bank on.

Lack of sleep, starvation conditions, constant threat... these things break the will of mankind. It's a combination of predation and nomadic subsistence mankind was never evolved to handle. Contrary to popular fiction, the stress of PTSD would fracture the minds after a few years, let alone the decades and centuries it would take to re-establish human society.

you dont need bullets for 99% of the population, all you need is a decent location where the zombies cant reach you like a nice, small mediterranean island

You can also kill them with other means besides bullets.... like baseball bats or knives... just saying
