Lot of misinformation being tossed around by the media.
Too much of anything is a health risk, one of those health risks is cancer. That has been known for aeons already. Same as too little from something is a health risk. The message isn't meat gives you cancer, the message is too much meat (and again, it's not just every kind of meat is the same) increases the risk of cancer. Which is extremely low to begin with. And a [insert random numer]% increase of that low risk doesn't mean much. A 100% increase in risk when the average risk is say for example 1% is still only 2%.
Risk of cancer =/= cancer.
As was said in this thread, sports for example decrease the risk of cancer. Same as having a balanced, healthy diet overall reduces the risk of cancer. Guess what, a balanced, healthy diet also includes meats (or supplements for vegetarians (whose longterm health effects have not been thoroughly studied I might add). Other studies have shown that test groups compromised of health conscious people live longer than the average populace regardless of vegetarian of omnivore diet and that no statistical significant difference in health risks and mortality was observed between the two.
So no, eating meat isn't unhealthy at all. Eating unhealthy is *le gasp* unhealthy.
