So basically we have a bunch of drama queens here, some self professed, whom caused problems, others called them out on it, in turn leading to the first group spamming the report button which resulted in this shit storm because they wanted no one's feelings geting hurt and "you can't say what I don't like because it's offensive to me" but it's okay to call someone who doesn't agree a bigot or whatever buzz word is the flavor of the month.. My hypocrisy sensor just went off the scale. It's just like the bullshit on the BSN all over again. Oh and anyone who goes into the cringe thread or some political threads, and then reports things as offensive is an idiot of the highest order. It's like complaining water is wet. Obviously, porn, gore, illegal things fair enough that's image board content. Personally I was just sick of seeing the shitstorm. I don't care if someone gets offended by most things (like Puddi said in response to the "offense is taken not given" line, there are limits), but I just think if people have personal issues with each other, they need to sort themselves out or ignore each other. Would you fight with someone on an only verbal level in the middle of the street? Would you like to be around and watch that? Because sometimes it seems like people on the internet forget that it is in public, albeit a different kind of public than the offline one. Oh, and I somewhat agree on the cringe thread. Though some stuff just shouldn't be posted, I don't remember anything of that kind of caliber on the cringe thread. Which would be great but clearly some people don't take no for an answer and insist on causing a shit storm in the first place. I frankly couldn't care less whatever personal dramas are going on until it starts to tread on my toes and then I start criticising and calling people out publicly for it. It is extremely rare for me to report anything, if you felt you had to because you disliked the drama, fair enough. But that should not be conflated with restrictive moderation over offence being taken. We'll see how things are addressed in that respect. If people are going into a board with heated opinions, then expect to be offended if they don't have thick enough skin. The ghosts disagreed with each other on numerous topics, for all our faults we didn't let that turn into a shit sling contest and call each other bigots. Regardless of whether we agreed not. Respect was earned, not a given. Some people here need to get that into their heads, if they want to discuss things of diverging views, have at it. Start throwing round buzzwords you'll be called out for it. |
