Except joking about that in an obvious way, except the killing a hostage part. That's not something to really joke about.

I should probably state what I posted elsewhere in this thread as well, since this is the thread that most are going to be reading and keeping an eye on.

Liam and I are discussing alternatives. We left the rule thread open for a reason and that reason was so we could get feedback from the community (even if it is unfavorable), we're listening and attempting to work up different solutions. If we didn't care, we would have locked the rule thread.

I also feel that I should state that the no jokes thing was solely my idea and not Liam's.

But yeah, we're thinking up alternative ways of handling things.

Okay, so here's the current solution (which is basically the same as things were): No hate speech, racism, sexism, homophobia or generally being a dick. (obviously jokingly acting like that is allowed, however, please note that what constitutes a joke will be up to administrative discretion).

What this means is that if someone says something like "Death to all beings born from the 3rd star next to the Hadreon galaxy by the fifth bi-sector of Plutious Nine", Liam and I can determine whether it is joking or serious and that is the end of that, no "I was joking, jk jk, you can't do anything". I do ask that all joking racist remarks be directed at other users that the remark maker is friends with rather than people of specific decent.

I'd like to think that Liam and I are great at discerning what is a joke and what is serious. That change will make things easier for us to handle.

Our definitions of coy must be different, because I'm not being coy. If I went off the reported posts then there wouldn't be any users left because a lot would have been banned and then the others would have left because their friends were gone. The reported posts archive is already at page 3, the Lobby itself goes to page 7, stop and think about that one for a moment.

You can and will believe what you will, that is fine. I, however, will do my best to avoid drawing powerboards attention, having this forum deleted and everyone losing contact with each other.

It's funny that you would claim that I'll do what I want, because that has hardly ever been the case with this board; it's almost always been up to the community via voting. If I had my way, I wouldn't even be in charge.

No my definition of coy is correct, you and Liam just confirmed that the rules were to be updated as a result of numerous reports in a short period of time. Whether that was recent or several weeks ago doesn't really have much bearing on the issue, given there was disagreement over moderation and rules several weeks ago as well, it did cause the current update. I don't think bans that weren't put in effect has any bearing on how the rules were updated. 

Given you are the administrator, you do have the final say don't you? As there are clearly reservations and there is not unanimity and the rules have been updated in spite of that. So if you think it's in the board's best interest you will apply the rules, i think it's good that you allow discussion and feedback, but ultimately you are going to do what you feel is best.

The fact that you don't want to be in charge makes me give you the benefit of the doubt, that this will not be enforced to the ridiculous extent that the dev mods did on the BSN, while being more evenly applied than the adhoc bizarre reasoning that the bot mods had. As I said, you know what my stance is on restrictive moderation, we'll see how things go. I'm perfectly willing to accept that it may result in me being banned, but that threat doesn't change how I will post here, so we'll have to cross that bridge if or when we come to it.
