Good for you man. Be it because the books and previous seasons gave me higher expectations, or I had too high standards, S5 was just... not good.
And believe me, I defend the series from the book nerds, since I'm fine with seeing how HBO adapts their own story. But this was the season that showed me that the writing really isn't as great as they thought it was. There were times that I felt they should have kept closer to the books - not because the books are intrinsically better, but because they simply had a better story than what the show had.
What was the point of Dorne? How come the Night's Watch just up and betrayed Jon Snow, after he returns from Hardhome with several brothers and Wildlings completely terrified out of their minds at the massacre they saw and can verify? They didn't build things up at all. Things just happened at the end. I can't think of the reason for the season, honestly.
