When people talk about unemployment, especially now, it puts things into perspective for me. I've still got my job, I'm one of the only people in the company that does what I do, and I've been asked to work overtime the last couple of weeks. I'm still getting paid, my boss has taken my recommendations regarding safety for employees during the outbreak and implemented them, I'm still able to pay my bills, and am not at risk of losing anything. It sucks ass that everyone isn't this secure in this situation. I wish we all were. But it makes me feel grateful for what I have, at least right now. I'm gonna try not taking this for granted. Try not to take it for granted but remember you're essential and you deserve more than whatever the minimum is. Essential people deserve an essential wage. Don't let them bamboozle your value away,. Would you believe me if I told you my boss gave me a ninja raise outta nowhere today? Like it wasn't discussed prior, I had no foreknowledge this would happen, she just up and showed me that I'd be getting an additional half a dollar an hour from what I'm making currently. Its been piece by piece because the owner of the company isn't exactly keen on giving people raises that are large(he's a multi-millionaire who hoards or so I'm led to believe). So she implied that if she could she'd get me dollars more on the hour than I have right now but it has to be bit by bit because otherwise the owner won't bite. Its not much, but its something.
