Things like Fitbit are designed to build a huge database of what you do, where you go, what you eat, drink and do. "to keep us fit and healthy" you say. Nah, probably to help the health funds build their databases and rate each clients health premiums based on this data. Also note phones now have motion trackers that tie into this via apps like the Fitbit phone app. I only found out about mine because I love playing in the menus, and found the motion data setting and you can even see where you have travelled each day. It's kind of freaky. I wonder what George Orwell would have thought of all this stuff done of course for our benefit "snicker, cough, cough." You assume your smart phone doesn't already do this? The average person leaves a digital footprints roughly 10,000 times a day, including your location, Internet habits, purchases and contacts. The FitBit isn't anymore insidious than any other piece of technology out there.
