FDR had polio... I don't think there is anything in the Constitution which says you have to be 100% healthy to hold the office. Just as long as you are not infirm. Also, having a mental illness is, by definition, not an impingement on the ability to do one's job. A mental disorder is. Seems like splitting hairs, but it's a huge distinction - mental illness affects millions of people worldwide. However, many are able to continue to go about their daily lives, completing jobs, tending to families and pursuing hobbies/interests, often suffering in silence. It is only when the illness progresses to levels where it interferes with their life in huge ways that it categorized as a mental disorder, which is sadly the point where people are first diagnosed. Yeah, concurred. I have anxiety problems, and shyness too (only in speaking!), still can do great works. I struggled with anxiety issues growing up, all the way through college. I would rather not talk to anyone over be in situation where I talked to strangers. For me, graduating college helped. Getting out of a school system where we often attend for decades helped me realize people aren't constantly waiting for you to make a mistake to jump on or make fun of you. Sadly, I didn't realize this wasn't the case in school anyway, merely my perceptions being skewed. Still, I wish I had sought out some help much earlier in my life about those feelings.
