The U.S. Army has deployed large numbers of military forces to multiple regions of the country in an exercise to simulate a widespread rebellion or internal war. This is fact and has been widely stated and recognized.

The problem is that most of the exefcise's "hostile" territories were conservative and Republican, with the "threat" being radicalized gun nuts with religious extremist bends. Think pretty much everyone in the "weapons" thread in Off Topic.

Anyway, some of the exercises involved doing things like "occupying" a Walmart to act as a central base of Operations or to seize local gun shops to prevent distribution of weapons. Again, all just training exercises.


Of course, right wing gun nuts are pretty much the industry LEADERS in crazy conspiracy theories, so they have hatched everything under the sun about why the government is doing this. Number one is Obama will refuse to step down come 2016 and is preparing to wage war against Republican/conservative elements who would oppose him. Second behind that is there is a huge ISIS threat that the government is training for and will impose martial law.

Crazier theories go into a meteor is about to strike the Earth and the government is keeping it secret, getting ready for mass pandemonium when it hits. Or that the government has set up secret prisons to capture people during these exercises and are using the entire thing as a smokescreen to seize political dissidents. Others include China and/or Russia of planning an attack and using inside American generals to prepare for them to turn on the government and seize the country in the name of their true masters.

Anyway, the exercise runs from March 15 to Sept 15, so maybe now that it is almost over, the talk can all stop soon.

Increase agricultural output and focus food industry development on convenient high calorie foods that people like. Shift workforce toward more sedentary jobs. Make your population obese and higher incidence of diabetes will follow.

Those are also probably a natural consequence of technological advance and industry evolution sans outside interference. So it's an awfully laissez-faire form of domination for the conspirators here. They may as well not even exist. Hmm...

And a conspiracy to do what? 'Controlling' people to eat healthier doesn't mean you control anything else they do 'by extension.' If the conspiracy is limited to the food industry, it hardly counts as a conspiracy that they want to sell more food. If it's the pharma industry getting people dependent on diabetes drugs, well, I really don't see how they'd pull it off. Their MO to increase drug sales seems to be more about creating bullshit markets like "men with low-T" than changing the lifestyle of entire societies to create a serious disease that they can then make drugs for.

Maybe it's a big government conspiracy to make paranoid fat people think it's a big government conspiracy and vote conservative.

Shortly after we claimed to find/kill Bin Laden, it was said that we confirmed the identity with a DNA test.

That, of course, implies we had Osama bin Laden's DNA on file before we started gunning for him (post-9/11)!

I can't decide whether Osama was secretly on our side all along or some random hostile we propped up as a convenient Big Bad. I also can't decide whether or not we really killed him, or he has been dead for a while, or even still alive. I am pretty confident, though, that this guy was never half the threat/killer that we were told he was.
