They say life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it but I've always felt things were mostly out of my hands on a lot of shit. So I'd probably switch those percentages around. Maybe I'm just pessimistic and I need to work on making my life the best it can be with the cards I have. I don't know.

When things go poorly because of my actions or go well because of the actions of others, it is fate.

When things go well because of my actions, it is self determination. When things go poorly due to the actions of others, it is self determination on their part.

It doesn't matter what I do, because my actions will be pre-determined and I'll stay in this chain of universal events. Because the progression of time is an illusion.

I'm a compatibilist myself: There's no real conflict between fate/determinism and the kind of free will that's possible for human beings to have. So I couldn't choose between the two options (get it?).
