Here's a good article from 2018 I found on the subject, admittedly an opinion piece but his fact seems on.
e360.yale.edu/features/why-nuclear-power-must-be-part-of-the-energy-solution-environmentalists-climateAlso:
www.popularmechanics.com/science/energy/a25576543/renewable-limits-materials-dutch-ministry-infrastructure/And
earthjournalism.net/stories/the-dark-side-of-renewable-energyMost of those countries as you've said are populations greater than a state, but we have 50 of those and landmass much greater than is common in Europe. Iceland has been mentioned as one example but that's a particulary small country with a population less than 400,000. IIRC many of the Scandinavian countries which are probably on that list sit right on good sources of geo-thermal energy but not everybody has that luck. Majority green energy isn't necessary a high portion either. German apparently now gets 40% of their power from renewable sources but that does leave a sizeable 60%. And keep in mind entirely renewable is simple non feasible due to the need to have some back up capacity which can make up for poor weather patterns. Trying to make that backup consist of more wind/solar would simple be economically infeasible after a certain point.
To be realistic nuclear quite simply has to be part of the picture and it can be a sizeable one as there is a lot of room for technological improvements over the sort of older plants that make up most of the ones in the US. I believe it was the Carter Administration who put some severe restrictions on nuclear reprocessing due to fears it could be used for nukes but (I'm going off memory here so I could be wrong) what you get from the reprocessing is very unsuitable for the grade of element required for nuclear weaponry.
I'll give those a look over at some point.
However: We have 50 of those, with landmasses over which we can build more solar farms, and wind farms than could be built in any one of those nations. And cost lines that stretch further than anyone of those nations. Take for consideration the Hoover Damn and the immense range to which it provides energy. Imagine solar and wind farms on a comparable scale. It's doable. we have the technology, the resources, the space.
At the very least working in that direction needs to be something that is significantly considered. And if nuclear reactors must be involved we need to figure out how to effeciently and safely handle the waste. We can't afford to wait much longer.
I'm not going to argue the technical specifications of a fighter that has more in common with an over priced parked car than anything that can become airborne. The argument is moot we're literally wasting billions on a machine that is incapable of serving us. Prove me wrong but some don't expect the fighters to be flight worthy as soon as 2026 and there is no signs that the aerodynamic coffin will be or presently is flight worthy. Hell the Japanese F-35A fleet is grounded in april 9th 2019 now because not even the ones they order work properly... Like I said it's a great car, but until it's airborne and functioning as ordered your the theoretical capabilties are just hypothetical.
Defense spending is abominably higher than it was post 9/11. I looked into this last night, the only time it's been higher was durring the Obama Administration around the period of time we started our drone war against ISIS. Defense spending has consistently been almost 200% more than what we were spending during the peak of the the war on terror and operation iraqi freedom. DOD budget can confirm that for you if you doubt. We're practically a giant militarized island. Canceling further funding of the JSF-35 program and instead focusing it into nasa or other areas (like student loan relief) would be astronomically impactful just in that action. And that wouldn't even be a "key area" since it's literally providing us 0 tangible or intagible benefits.
If the presidency compromises the balance of power it is their constitutional job to defend it. If they don't then that's their decision unfortunately but all indications are we are in the midst of a constitutional crisis, and congressional abdication of power needs to be halted. We can see how it plays out, but impeachment is almost a necessary step at this point whether its successful or not simply to avoid a precedence. Just remember whatever Trump gets away with can be used as a legal precedence for the next Democratic or Opposition candidate. Pelosi made that quite clear with the national emergency situation. And the more powers ceded to the presidency and flexibility they have to bend those powers, the less like a democracy we become.
I'm not going to recap almost 4 years of consistent political gaffes and the ostracism of our European and Asian allies as well as the hits that NATO has taken and our lack of cooperation on a global scale. When the US leaves a situation there is a power vacuum and russia is making sure to fill it and exploit the lack of unity among NATO allies.
www.wiaawi.org/portals/0/pdf/sports/basketball_boys/bk_gyms.pdf <-link to a list of highschool gymnasium seating capacities.
Now this is just vox but I think it proves the point:
www.vox.com/2018/8/10/17670992/study-white-americans-alt-right-racism-white-nationalists <-estimated number of americans polled who think like Alt-Right supporters.
Now when I get home, if you can't do the math at a glance from that highschool gymnasium seat count, I can. But I can assure you
Highschool Gymnasiums seat < White Supremacist asses in america.
Whoa there nelly, it sounds like you're playing the FoS card on me there. Please go on. Demonstrate to me the systemic oppression of the 1st ammendment right in the public discourse. Consider 1 we are presently having a dialogue about this. 2. Unite the Right Does exist. 3. The only suppression we actually evidenced the last time this came up was ICE brutally pepper shooting at point blank peaceful american protesters. 4. There are no Public Universities in the US that were not already sworn to uphold the constitution, 5. Private Universities are Predomantly religious and have relgious curriculums. 6. 1st ammendment rights do not include a militia's 'right' to arrest someone. 7. White Nationalist Protests have happened. 8. There is presently an active member of the Nazi Party serving someone in this country. 9. We just briefly touched on american Identity and it will very clearly be alive in 3 months time.
I don't dissagree with you on the radicalism according to the FBI Hate Crimes have skyrocketed under the current presidency, and there is more anti-semetic, and islamophibic talk in the streets as well as an increased tendency towards racist conduct towards mexicans, hispanics, arabs, and blacks.

See previous comments about valuing life over things. You do not have to necessarily depose a dictator, just dont sit there and praise their oppressiveness. Condemn them sternly, levy international actions against them, provide their people with the means to rebel.
I'm not going to get into the gun controlly side in this aside here, that's a seperate topic completely. But Also there has been an increase and in most cases, these are white supremecists or folks with white supremacist beliefs, In particular I believe I had new zealands recent massacre in mind when writing about it. In the states we clearly need more restrictive laws and better enforcement of those laws. Law abiding citizens will abide the laws, they won't be paying. They'll be obeying the laws.
Jobs should be paying people living wages, and when the burden of medical debt, student debt are so high wiht low wages social mobility is substantially impacted. More jobs do not solve the problem if the jobs do not pay well enough to leave one social rung let alone live comfortably within another.
I honestly didn't even read this because It's Pappy Noam,
www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2017/04/05/noam_chomsky_friendly_fascism_could_happen_in_the_usa_crematoria_not_a_core_part_of_the_ideology.html , but this gets at it i'm sure. I can find more for you to read
Oh i'm sure that is the case in the case of the yellow vests. But the entire scenario harkens back to the "let them eat cake" we often discuss here with maria antoinette. Big thing in the public is hurt. Peeps are kinda sad. Let us rebuild it to fix their problems -say the rich people "look at al this money we have to just fix up this building" they say again ignoring the problems of the working class. That is my point. It's probably not helping things and is likely only making the situation worse. There were better places and ways they could've helped their country. But You'd need to clue me in on the poland thing. I don't pay attention to East European News generally.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCarthyismen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watergate_scandalwww.aei.org/publication/the-shocking-and-sickening-story-behind-nixons-war-on-drugs-that-targeted-blacks-and-anti-war-activists/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugenics_in_the_United_StatesI mean I can keep just giving you lists of garbage things we did that are equally as bad or comparable to some of the darkest moments of human history if you'd like but the distance is not as far as you'd think. If you didn't harbor an unconcious ill will you wouldn't imply or assume any sort of superiority or use them as an index of negativity yet here we are. It's ok though, this is a thing that has happened throughout our soceity and is strongly conditioned in the American mindset. It's hard to be aware of it or even really recognize it when you're the one espousing it. You could call it a Microagression against Non-White Americans but really it's just an extension of American Racism if you ask me.
Look i'm getting tired of the wall of text too, but this is a discussion. If you're trying to sell me on the actions of the Commander and Cheato you can't simply hand wave away his bad as "human nature comes into play" that's a highschool argument I made against communism in highschool. Human Nature is a driving factor for everything. Washington Had human nature. Obama Had human nature. I have human nature, you have human nature, surprisingly yes even hitler had human nature. By simple fact of being human our human nature applies to us. It is not a cop-out or excuse or an explanation for anything so much as a totally dismissal of any [x] provided something is human. The issue is he operates well aroudn the bounds of what most would consider to be morally acceptable.
You back the pompus orange blimp for what reason again? Because of an assumption he has some good intention for the country was it? Where is the evidence? What has he done to merit that assumption?
american socialist perspective is the traditional european economy. It's a good formula it works. that's basically it.For the more radical of us yeah, communism seems appealing, but it's not possible currently. One day it maybe but probably not. The biggest thing is that Medicare for All, Universal Education, and Living wages is not going to bankrupt the US. No more than the damn F-35 and unrestrained military spending will.

We're all buds here lets not be getting too heated.
