I have to say, AOC hasn't been as good as advertised since she actually started working in Congress... she has been even better.
I can't think of the last politician for whom I had high hopes that went on to exceed those expectations, but she has, and so have many of these other freshman Dems. Ilhan straight SAVAGED Elliot Abram's ghoulish neocon ass (much to the chagrin of liberals like Neera Tanden and Center for American Progress for... some reason). Ro Khanna is another guy who is doing great work out there.
I don't want to clamor for a presidential run from her every four years because she's doing great work in Congress and we leftists don't exactly have many horses there even from within the defacto "left" party. As much as we need to get an actual progressive in the White House, it's not going to amount to much if we don't continue getting more of them elected in Congress, and that also means not talking too many of them out of leaving their posts just yet.
And let's be very clear about one thing: the malcontents are the ones who delivered these wonderful candidates, not their "more reasonable" counterparts who have continually warned us that demanding better from Democrats will just result in Republicans getting elected. (Why are we still taking their opinions seriously??)
Turns out, produce candidates worth a damn, and people actually vote for them (and, just as importantly, the base more broadly will fight for them). Imagine that!! >.<
Obviously, it's more than just policy. There's an art and style to this as well, but politics is increasingly becoming part and parcel with your brand as a politician, and Clinton era "Third Way" liberalism ain't it, chief.
