It's Massachusetts, they're all Satanists there already. When they come to Texas is when you should be worried.

But naw, a critical thinking club would defeat the whole point. Satanists' purpose is basically to troll the religious right in America to get rid of double standards in terms of religious monuments in government buildings or prayer in public schools or such.

Their goal isn't to actually create the club and have kids enroll in it, but to create such an aversion to creating said club that the school would have to close other such clubs to justify disallowing the Satanist club.

Whether that's still unfair to the kids or not, I'll let others decide.

If it's an after school activity supported by a public school, then having any that are religious in nature would violate the Constitution. They are just following the same free speech argument that allowed the fundamentalist evangelical Christian group to bypass that with their own dumb cheap shot to the nuts of secular democracy.

But again it's more of a stunt than a legitimate recruiting effort that's going to hurt kids, and also I think you overestimate religious bullying in American schools in 2016. At least in the two lib states I attended public school (of which Mass. is comparable), no one ever pressured me not to be an atheist. It's probably worse for Muslims than it would be for the Satanist club. Thanks Trump.

I'm pretty sure "critical thinking curriculum club" would set off even more alarm bells in some of those people's minds.

I propose a middle ground: "Apples For Thoughts", because apples are healthy, a bit of fruit does wonders after a schoolday and the biblical connotation about Adam and Eve eating the forbidden apple (all the religious edgyness you need to piss off any bible humpers).

Because seriously ... "critical thinking curriculum club" will have more NSA moles placed as members than genuinely interested people in nowadays USA.
