Yeah you need to make Bioware look bad outside of the BSN.
We'll only get an answer if we can have some pressure on them.

As they keep complaining about how the "forums are too toxic", I agree that doing something to get perma banned would just be making them correct.

Although at the same time, I feel like they're just going to continue ignoring it while spouting that same "We're doing this for a stronger community" crap pretty much no matter what we do.

If I had a Twitter or Facebook account... or had even rudimentary familiarity with reddit, then I'd bombard BioWare with this.

I might draft an open letter tomorrow, depending on how much time I have. Although I wouldn't mind if anyone else did that... I am not as invested in the Offtopic forum as others are, I simply want some changes to the way BioWare handles their community in the forum.

Agreed. Don't make it easier for them to get rid of you. Play nice, remain civil, all that jazz.

I haven't felt welcome at the BSN for a long time. It's not just the lack of proper moderation or any community managing, it's the entire atmosphere.

BSN has creepy guys who write lengthy posts about their desire to see more racial purity in the games, who call human/non-human couples in the games blood traitors, who ask for female LIs that serve as broodmares, who want options to punish their LIs (break fingers etc) if they look at other guys... and that doesn't get moderated because it is "roleplay". The poster talks about elven supremacy, so that's okay. It's not real sexism and bigotry if it's roleplay. In the feedback forum.

Or hey, how about the guy who puts everyone who has a different opinion on ignore and continues to repeat his request (rarely more than a single line) over and over and over again, derailing every single thread he's part of? Oh, and he goes through the forum with a fine-toothed comb and reports anything that might be profanity.

I won't even mention the attention whores who spam in every thread, trying to change the topic to themselves. I already noticed one of them made the transition here, too.

The thing is, on BSN you can't do -anything- about people like that. If you even try, you risk getting suspended for abusive behaviour.

Yeah, it might sound harsh and perhaps more than a little biased, but if I was a mod, then I would have warned them. If that wasn't enough, I'd ban them.

Forum culture is weird at times and one must make allowances for odd birds... but that stops when it affects other users negatively. I wish the mods on BSN would see that, too.


How am I supposed to feel welcome in a forum that doesn't encourage constructive discussions? A forum where you best ask a lawyer before posting because it might be used out of context? A forum where you can be a complete jerk without violating the rules and thus enjoy protection from the BioDrones?

There is so much wrong with BSN, I don't even know where to start. It's like they had a manual for community building and then did the exact opposite of what it said.

Quit being lazy like me and just do it.

Funny, even with DA2 and ME3 I was able to have some interesting and intelligent discussions with people.

I think turning the BSN help section into Off-Topic would be going out with a bang. They don't care to look at it and actually help people with issues anyway.

We should all co-ordinate a date and bombard their twitter, reddit, and facebook asking them to bring back the Bioware Lobby and we should do so without cursing.
