If God were real he'd be a psychotic, homophobic, sexist, POS with a bias against mixing fabrics in clothing for some reason (Because that's obviously something that would be important to the supreme creator of all things) However he's not real, and we just need to deal with people who can't see the difference between fiction and reality trying to enact a psychotic, homophobic, sexist POS' will onto the world. Luckily most people are only the moderate kind of religious which basically is just follow what sounds good and ignores all the other parts of the bible that is inconvenient such as: Condoning slavery, condoning gang rape on prostitutes, genocide, stoning disobedient children, basically most of the Old Testament and so on. So don't worry too much about the good and evil part and free will. It all comes down to what's most convenient for the individual to believe. But well we're on the subject lets leave off on some good clean Christian morality from the bible: "There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses" - Ezekiel 23:20
Ever heard of Marcion of Sinope? He's an early Christian scholar, sometimes credited with developing the Old Testament/New Testament format of the Bible. His original writings were lost, and most of what we know about him comes from the writings of his critics, but according to one theory, he deliberately tried to create such a strong contrast between Old Testament God and New Testament God that he could use it to promote his theory that the "God" referred to by the Old Testament was actually the Devil. |
