Disney is releasing this one. That means PG-13 Indiana Jones. Watered down for the whole family. None of the grit from the old movies. Raiders of the Lost Ark: rated PG Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom: rated PG Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: rated PG-13 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: Rated PG-13 The first two were rated PG because there were no R ratings at the time. The R rating came about because of Temple of Doom, actually. Last Crusade would be rated R today. They are more strict about it today. The decapitation scene near the end of the movie would alone warrant an R rating today. Crystal Skull....Guess what? No grit in it. And it sucked. Edit: I got the R-rating history wrong. I will let the comment stand, though. Since I make a point of admitting when I am wrong. That being said, PG-13 is a lot more watered down than the old PG movies. The heart ripping scene from Temple of Doom, for example. That would plant a solid R-rating on the movie today. Most likely the face-melting scene in Raiders too. And I suspect Alfred Molina's death in Raiders too. PG-13 means no human blood. No nudity and no F-bombs. Not that the Indy movies have F-bombs in them, of course.
