RNG.
RNG, RNG and more RNG.
Had a game in World of Warships today, me in the Nagato battleship and a Nürnberg cruiser pops out at 14km range, perfectly broadside. Easiest shot to make and a Nagato volley of eight 410mm AP shells will rip any cruiser apart like putting the blueprints through a paper shredder.
So what happens is first volley, perfectly aimed for the midships citadel: shells go everywhere and fall short in the water or sail straight over the target, only two shells connect and do minimal overpenetration damage. K, shit RNG roll, can happen ... 32 seconds later my guns are reloaded, Nürnberg is now 12km away, aim at the midships citadel again, shoot: *hnnnnng* same as before ... by now that lucky SOB set me on fire with HE hits (something which is also RNG dependant and German cruisers don't have good fire chances, go figure). Another 32 seconds for the reload later and I'm already pissed off enough that I joked about uninstalling the game to my division mate in TS if this Nürnberg survives the next volley: 10km away, again aim for the midship citadel ... boom, triple citadel penetration -> cruiser deleted (which is an average damage volley considering the target, angle (full broadside ffs) and range).
That ship, sailing broadside on to a battleship at optimal firing distance (and I very much know how to aim!) had absolutely ZERO right to live for those 64 seconds, yet RNG decides to save the newbie who's dumb enough to give THE perfect target to shoot at and in the meantime grants him the opportunity to do quite a bit of damage to a ship that can nuke him two and a half times over in a single volley.
RNG range from everything missing to instant-death even within optimal firing range. The game is addictively fun to play, but RNG screwing you over like that when you do everything right and the enemy everything wrong and you STILL can't punish him for that because lolRNG is hairpullingly frustrating.
I absolutely loath it when games get choked full with RNG.
