Finished The last season of Angel. Great season 9/10. Lots of awesome fillers that I actually love and mind blowing plot related episodes (not as bombastic as season 4 tho!). I thought in the last episode I'm gonna be disappointed and this season needs another 2 or 3 episodes, but the director finished it almost very good and I'm OK with it. I read that there is comic series and they're called season 6 and 7 of Angel. I really need to find them. I may watch Firefly and Buffy later which have the same director. I also may do a long review of Angel later. I don't know. I'm very busy... Both Buffy and Angel have comics that continue afterwords. Tbh I was a bit interested but I haven't heard good things about them, particularly the Buffy one. The nice thing about watching Buffy is it acts as a sort of prequel to many of the events in Angel. You'll get to see the events that caused Angel to go to LA, as well as him meeting Cordelia, Spike (well, he already knew Spike before the series but I mean first time you see them on screen together and where you'll get most their backstory) and Wesley. I'd imagine seeing Wesley again when he was just a full on dork and comedic relief character will be interesting after how he was in season 5 of Angel. Buffy tends to be a bit more silly then Angel and it really focuses more on the villain of the week and big bads of the season rather then having a much larger arc then Angel did with the Wolfram Hart. The last 2 seasons get much more serious but like I said previously they lose much of the charm that I enjoyed in the earlier bit. In general I prefer Angel over Buffy but they are handled a bit differently and both are worthwhile watches I found. Aside from the backstories Buffy will provide some really cool villains overall and lots of cool moments too. They were not intending for Angel to end in season 5 so you can see towards the end they sort of had to rush to wrap things up. It's not a great ending but all things considering it wasn't a terrible ending either. I loved everything with Illyria. Fred was a cool character but after Illyria took the stage I developed a large crush on the actress Amy Acker.  I'd say her and Wesley were my favorites though there's tons of other characters that had great moments too. Was happy to see they brought Spike back into the show later since him and Angel had a great dynamic I'd very strongly recommend Firefly for sure. It's a fantastic watch if you're into sci-fis. A huge cult classic and imo one of the best sci-fi shows out there. Many of us are still really quite bitter it got cancelled after one season. It really deserved more. There's also Doll House... I'd give that one a pass personally though. One thing you'll find if you do watch some of Joss Whedon's other shows is he loves using the same actors and actresses. Expect to see a lot of familiar faces. Cool, thanks. Wes, Fred and Spike were awesome in the last season. Those villains were quality villains too. If I want to see Buffy it's because of the cool British Spike and the appearance of Angel characters in that series. |
