www.imdb.com/title/tt0451279/ratings?ref_=tt_ov_rtWonder Woman has an 8.5 average on imdb already. 2300 votes, round about. And over 1700 of those are 10s... I remember this happening when BVS came out as well. That one had over 20k 10s 2 weeks before it was out. I'm hopeful. For one, the story cannot possibly be any worse than that of Batman v Superman. Secondly, what we've seen of Themyscira in the trailers looks pretty good. I have little doubt in my mind that Robin Wright (Antiope) and Connie Nielsen (Hippolyta) will be great in their supporting roles. Opening with young Diana (Lilly Aspell) and her early years training is, to my mind, the right choice, particularly considering it's the first time we'll see Wonder Woman's origin in the big screen. I'm unsure if they'll follow Renae De Liz's ( The Legend of Wonder Woman) more classical take on the story or Azzarello's more realistic approach. I'm guessing it'll be a bit of both, but insofar Diana's conception is concerned the trailers have shown us they'll be going Azzarello, with Diana being Zeus' daughter (less cosmical, more grounded on how the Greek Gods interacted with humans in the myths and legends). My only real concern is the execution of the story after they leave Themyscira. If they follow in the footsteps of the 2009 animated movie, then Ares will be the major villain, but I worry how they'll handle the fight. Will it be a large event involving the Amazons (doubtful, for the world would have known about them as far back as World War One, and there's been no indication to that effect in Batman v Superman) or a small, one-on-one, affair? Will the other Greek Gods intervene? Perhaps it will take a page of The Legend of Wonder Woman and Zeus will try to recruit Diana as his champion? So far, the trailers have gone over the same plot points and that's good, provided there's more to the story than what we've already seen. I can't think of a better reveal than showing other Gods beyond Ares playing the Game of Champions. Also, if DC's trying to set up a possible Diana-Bruce romance (and it's likely), I have little hope for Steve Trevor making it out of this movie. They'd have to pull a Captain America or have some God intervene to make him survive till our time without showing signs of aging. Also, this movie has colour! Well, at least till we get to London and the front lines... PS: Also, Themyscira is hidden, it cannot be reached accidentally, so it's possible Steve crashing nearby wasn't accidental? Like in a certain story I know? PPS: They also need to explain why she wasn't in World War II.
