Mel Brooks states Spaceballs 2 in early development

I only have a few issues with this:

-Most of the original cast is either dead or retired.
-Mel Brooks hasn't directed a film since 1995 (he has been active but mostly as voice over work and not in the writer or director chair)
-The Spaceballs Cartoon (2008) was really, really bad.


I guess the issue is can he capture the comedy essence that made his career great, Dracula: Dead and Loving it is his only real bomb (Unfortunately that was his last major movie project)but just before that he did Robin Hood: Men in Tights which was a great parody and before that his output has been mostly really good.  If he does go threw with it I hope he takes the time he needs for this project.
