Yes it does. Emotion can help OR hinder in a duel. To know which action to take, the force can guide when one is calm & centered. This is what Qui-Gon was attempting to achieve when he crouched & meditated during the Naboo duel. Perhaps you didn't read what I wrote or I wasn't very clear. When Han says that it's in a very specific context. At the time Finn had revealed to Han he didn't know how to disable the shields but that they would use the Force to do so. Then Han said, "It doesn't work that way." In other words, the Force is not a "get out of jail" free card that you can use whenever you're in a tight spot and Abrams would do well to remember that. Also, Sith, and even Dark Jedi, draw power from their emotions. My interpretation of him pounding at his wound is so he'll feel the pain and draw power from it. Are you really comparing using the force to bring down shields and using emotion and the force to tip the battle in your favor(which has happen alot of times in the series)?
