Yes, I know. But remember when we had the Holiday Special? You could argue that hurt the OT. Or the other Expanded Universe-stuff that we got. 
Hell, I could go into a long and winded story about how the prequels harm the OT way more than Rebels does. But I don't think that'll matter much - I like Rebels, anyway. Sure, it's a kids show, but if you don't like it, don't watch it. If it really hurts the OT for you, don't even look at it. It's not like you have to.

Vader's disciple isn't canon. I think the base is just a throwback to Luke Skywalker's original name. I think he was supposed to be called Luke Starkiller.

No, but that would be my guess. Also; I just re-watched the Anakin redemption scene from episode 6. No lightsaber anywhere on Luke as he's dragging Vader over to the shuttle... interesting. He will likely NOT have that weapon in TFA
