All the solar and wind power fads, nuclear energy, organic produce and blabbering on about climate change and emissions (which data shows is sketchy) makes no difference. They're all smoke and mirrors and as much as the climate change lobby may push that things can be fixed, it can't be. Renewable energy will do fuck all, the Paris climate talks are a waste, even if all nations agreed to reduce emissions it'd make no difference. I may as well point out the elephant in the room, population. 7 billion humans. At the current rate of growth this is unsustainable, as unpalatable as it may be population control needs to be instituted, aid money to the third world curtailed and Gov implementing social security systems which discourage more than 2 children being born per couple. This is the Malthusian T/rap that we face. The Economist Thomas Robert Malthus in the late 18th Century theorised that a population would eventually outstrip the ability of the environment in which it lived to support it, over population would then be corrected by famine, disease, starvation and war causing population decline to bring the population back within sustainable levels. Technological advancement has allowed our species to stave of the Malthusian Hole, but it is inevitable, it will happen eventually we've simply been living on borrowed time. Now no politician would ever grasp such a thistle as it's not popular or and doesn't come into feel good politics, it is however practical and the one way out. Everything else is dust in the wind. Edit: T/rap, really T/rap is censored? who's dumb arse idea was that? Of all the stupid shit that goes on round here this one has got to be towards the top. Would you recommend donating money to any environmental groups or is that just a waste? Was considering a donation to the E.I.I (earth island institute), they seem like a solid and helpful organization. And i'm pretty certain if we throw enough money at this issue we can fix it. Also people in here mentioned vegan-ism. I researched it and apparently that would solve a ton of climate related problems? That's uh, surprising. No, but then again I'm perhaps not the best person to ask. I never give to charity, the state has aid budgets and has subsidised climate change science and renewable energy to the tune of billions of pounds over the years, if they still can't run a business with all of that cash and require hand outs from charity the technology is doomed to fail. Throwing money at an issue never fixes anything. Doing that tends to lead to bureaucrats taking over, and no bureaucracy ever put itself out of work, hence the drive for more regulation, more legislation to the point where it strangles the private sector. Look at the farcical mess of the EU, the budget and accounts have never been audited and the entire bureaucracy doesn't actually do anything, each nation state runs it's own affairs and economy. All the EU does is leach of the 28 members like a parasite. Hence it's climate change policy was founded in the twilight zone which has no baring on reality.
