Almost a great movie, kinda lame villain. Good new Avengers and the old cast are cool like before. 8/10
It was at the same level of Guardians of the Galaxy.

I like to watch Antman and I just realized Agent Carter is a series and I missed it all this time :/

I watched Fury Road on Blue Ray and ... WHOA! I really, really regret not having seen that in theatres...like many others I guess, All the hype and praise made me a bit wary, but this movie is so hilariously insane, wonderfully fucked up, and as one review said "the loudest silent movie ever made".

You barely have dialouge, but when people say something it at least isn't the usual hollywood phrase-machine at work. And when you see Hardy and Theron ACTING with mere glances at each other, its simply great. No comparison to those action-movie-cliches where the hero and the girl have to argue for half an hour, make out a bit etc until things get done. No TIME for that here, we have to drive, shoot and survive!

It also has wonderful scenes that elevate the badguys, especially the War Boys, above mere "ugh, we evil henchmen"-level, you might even care for them, or at least feel sympathy for them a bit. You hardly see the baddies exchanging such camraderie in these movies.

The action, of course, is excellent, you hardly get a moment to breathe through, but to my own surprise it didn't bore me, like some other movies did with endless action - btw. mostly practical SFX, stunts, barely any CGI and.. NO SHAKY CAM! I love NO SHAKY CAM, the bane of action movies...

And even the soundtrack pumped me up. I rarely even notice a soundtrack in movies to be there or worth remembering, but this one's good. All chrom and shiny, what a lovely day! Be witness to this movie, and go mcfeasting with Immortan Joe in the halls of Valhalla!




I also watched Fast and Furious 7 before this...and this made Mad Max even better, because that FF-series is probably the worst kind of modern action movies I can think of...it looks cheaper, has more dialogue and it sucks, more "story" that makes no sense whatsoever, character-motivations out of the blue or mental-asylum, actors that are wasted, a hip-hop-soundtrack that made me cringe, and worst of all NO DOOF WARRIOR WITH A FIRESPURTING GUITAR!

FF7 - made more than triple the box office, and is thrice as bad an action movie than Max...if you don't believe me really, try watching them back to back, it becomes so obvious...

I've always had a soft spot for Roger Ebert. When I was in high school, I had a chance to see him give a speech live and he told a story I've never forgotten: In 1972, a man asked him about a movie called Cries and Whispers which he and his wife were thinking about seeing. Ebert told them, "Yeah I think you should see it. It's one of the best movies of the year." The man responded, "Um, I don't think we want to see that one." It's strange the way we can be almost intimidated by the idea of a truly great movie: What if I go see it and don't enjoy it that much? Does that mean I'm an idiot who doesn't understand movies?

As the film makes clear, Ebert saw himself as a critic of the people: He stayed at the Chicago Sun Times throughout his writing career despite numerous opportunities to move to more prestigious publications, and he wanted to make film criticism and art appreciation something accessible. Some criticized Siskel and Ebert at the Movies as simplifying criticism too much: reducing it to a mere "thumbs up" or "thumbs down." Still, there's no denying that his impact on criticism and the medium as a whole has been enormous. Errol Morris' Gates of Heaven was released at a time that many newspaper writers were on strike. Thus, NY and LA film critics did not review it. This should have been a death blow to a movie with a limited release, but Siskel and Ebert took three occasions to mention this little-known movie on their show. This very well may have made possible the career of Errol Morris, now generally considered the greatest documentary filmmaker alive. Ebert also gave Martin Scorsese an early boost with a review of Who's That Knocking at My Door? which said that in ten years, Scorsese could be the American Fellini (Scorsese's response: "Do you really think it's gonna take that long?").

The film paints a pretty complete portrait of his life, all things considered: His early struggles with alcohol, his often competitive friendship with Gene Siskel, his marriage to Chaz Ebert, his script for Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, an exploitation film by Russ Meyer (probably the strangest and most out of place episode in his career), his final days as he eventually succumbed to cancer (the film was begun in the last few months of Ebert's life and did not finish until after he had passed away). Life Itself is a moving and nuanced portrait of a life in cinema. I'd recommend the film to anyone who loves movies (and life) as much as Roger did.

Predictable, amusing, but cute as hell.

One of my favorite Burton films tbh. Johnny Depp is a good Ichabod Crane and Micheal Gambon, Jeffrey Jones, Richard Griffiths, and The Emperor himself Ian McDiarmid as the town's local leaders what's not to like. Also Christopher Walken as the Headless Horseman has always been my favorite thing from this movie. It just works.
