Not at all. Russia and China both have borders closer to the Middle East than the distance from New York to LA. While Iraq and Afghanistan are officially US wars, Syria is not any of our fucking business. Regime change in that part of world is a bloody, fruitless endeavor.

If Russia wants to colonize it, go right ahead. Take over Iraq while they're at it. And then Putin and China can get into a pissing match over Afghanistan, too. These are net loss missions at this point. There is no payday for these conflicts, no Mission Accomplished, no win. The US should just wash its hands of it all at this point.
