If you group years into era groups, none will be golden because you will have a shitload of poor quality games that will be in higher number. That is why picking what year of games was good is generally better because you can do a better count of quality games vs low quality. For every OoT you might have in the 1998 to 2005, you'll have more Super Man 64

Though I'd probably not call anything a "golden age" of gaming.
