Because sexuality of the races is not something that comes up in basic lore reading. There is bits on it if you go out of your way to find it but it's not readily available. Thankfully one of the responses he got was someone who directed him to a RP page link for the races that talks about it and how each individual race handles it (not just homosexuality but sexuality in general)

The main thing to keep in mind is he was asking from a RP perspective. He wasn't asking about the developers views on it nor was he judging whether or not the game should have it or not. People take RP seriously and it's easy to play every race as if they were human which is frowned upon by the people who take it seriously. Some races in the game are much more likely to accept it then others and it's good to know that when making a character if you intend to RP. If a player decides to play a homosexual character that has no overall impact on whether the game supports the views or not, they're not asking the game to do so either. All they want is to make sure that the kind of character they're going to make matches with the stories lore.

I myself know how each race handles sexuality but that's because I've gone out of my way to read every races lore in the past (I'm a giant lore fiend for the record) but it's not something that comes up prominently in basic reading on it so I can see how a person could know a lot about the race they're going to play but just not that particular topic.

What bugs me is how out of context what he asked was taken simply due to the subject. Asking "how is X handled in the game?" is not the same as giving any opinion of what you think about X and how it should be handled.
