To paraphrase red letter media, they gathered this team because a threat of the same caliber as superman would be really bad, so we need a team of dangerous individuals to help protect us. .... What the fuck are Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and Killer Croc going to do about the person who is immune to bullets, explosions, and can suplex a satellite out of space? Them being a team of people sent on morally questionable missions with high levels of deniability from the government would have made much more sense, as a reason for the squads existence. Precisely. Hence why the threat the squad faces in the movie is just dumb, and makes you question the plot that much more. Yeah, think I'll lean more on the critics side regarding the reception of the movie--it isn't that particularly good. Let's start with the plot. Just like with BvS, DC once again takes up an interesting premise that tackles the issue regarding the rise of metahumans in society. While BvS questions the nature of the overall social welfare of the world by the existance of Superman, SS has a more focus on the political side, with how metahumans interference can have on a geopolitical stage, and how it should be feared and exploited, as well as showing how they are as well people like any other. Of course, SS does the same thing BvS did; throws away a potentially interesting plot in favor of mindless action sequences. The overall story is disjointed and doesn't add any new significant elements to the DC universe, other than just further demonstrating that metahumans are dangerous. Sure, it correlates to some degree the bias that the movie has regarding humanities view on metahumans, and just like the movie wants to tell you through its main characters; that they aren't all bad (though it does a rather cheap job at it--e.g. by making the good guys do bad things so that you care about the bad guys). But the movie lacks any significant focus, and the threat that the characters face doesn't carry any real weight and you are just left with more questions than answers, and overall it is just bland. The characters are hit and miss. The great ones are Deadshot and Harley, who get most screen time and characterization, while others are just either meh, or simply pointless and have no real value in the movie. The Joker is disappointing and pointless as well, though apparently a lot of his screen time was cut, so I expect another Extended Edition to fix the movie on his part. The humor was and action scenes were OK. I had a chuckle at one or two scenes, and some scenes were done well, but nothing remarkable. Honestly the best things I can say about the movie personally is the few scenes with Batman. Ben Affleck is still great, and I simply want one great, solo movie with him just that much more. There are more aspects I could talk about, but I don't really wanna bother, since the movie was rather disappointing as a whole and I just don't care really. Admit it Marvel just paid you off didn't they?! >:[ Yes. I am writing this with my new laptop from my new Lamborghini.
