To expand on what Cola said a bit if you're interested In November 2001 a man named Andrew Bagby is murdered allegedly by his ex Shirley Turner to which there was very strong evidence for. It is soon after revealed that Shirley is pregnant with Andrews son. The person who made this documentary (Kurt Kuenne) was a close friend with Andrew and sets out to make a documentary about what kind of person Andrew was for his son, Zachery. Since the documentary is being made things unfold with Shirley it shows a lot of the legal process the occurred during the time for her accusation of Andrews murder. To say that it was slow and handled poorly would be an understatement. The 2nd half of the documentary takes on a different meaning if you're not interested in watching the video or don't know about the case I'll explain here: Well the case is progressing Shirley is given bail by a judge who didn't consider her a threat to the public as her crime was "specific in nature". She is allowed to keep raising Zachery during this time. It is shown that Shirley had 8 restraining orders on her, had one attempted suicide and during her brief incarceration had threatened to stab another inmate with a fork on top of her murder charges she was currently facing which either the judge who let her go out free and raise Zachary didn't bother to find out or was just stupid enough to not consider concerning. To add insult to injury she was not expected to pay the bail meaning it could have been 2 cents or 2 million dollars and it would not have mattered. In a gut wrenching turn in the documentary Shirley later commits murder suicide with Zachary.
Zachary's grandparents (Andrews parents) who had been fighting the legal battle against Shirley afterwords become strong advocates for changes in the legal system in Canada to attempt to prevent this from happening again.
It's a really emotional watch and definitely one I'd recommend. On a side note there's also a book by the Grandfather called "Dance with the Devil" dealing with the case and his interactions with Shirley who is quite honestly a complete psychopath
P.S. Fuck Gale Welsh
