I liked it over all, being a 6 book series it had it's high points and low points. A pretty decent array of characters were developed. For the most part I liked the ones the author wanted me to like and disliked the ones he wanted me to dislike, other than one notable exception.

As such, he's seen as something of a cripple. Over the course of the series, Tavi and his friends find themselves dealing with threats to the the nation of Alera, both from outside forces (the Canim, a large wolfman species, the zerg-like Vord) and within (traitors within the nobility seeking to depose the First Lord). The series is by Jim Butcher so you know it's good. My description really doesn't do it justice

I will probably start reading book 5 soon, though.
