FINALLY!!!
Three days after the already late redemption of RA2+YR on the house, countless fruitless attempts to get into contact with EA support chat which seemed perpetually busy as I was always stuck in the queue (yes, I was patient, I had the chat waiting in background for two hours (approximate waiting time: under 5 minutes!) and now finally got support on the line when I phoned in the german EA support, told them my plight (language locked to German, ears bleeding, English plz) and after the line got severed once for whatever reason I got the help I needed the second time I called in.
The usual weed-out-user-error proceeded and once that list got checked swiftly and we established that yes, there's no ID10t code involved, Support Guy logged into my Origin account, removed the German-Only RA2+YR and redeemed another product code for the game which wasn't region locked and violá, RA2+YR in English as it should be.
Funny thing though, I could practically hear them cringe when I told them I don't to play the game in German because the translation is evil. They knew my plight as only a person who suffered the same torturous translations could know.
As for the game itself, boy does it show I hadn't played a Westwood RTS in a loooooooooooong time. Took myself a minute to acclimate to the left-click controls again and I still misclicked a couple times. Good thing the game even works in Win10. Plays at max resolution 800x600, but can use 1024x800 with black borders so the game doesn't look too distorted on current standard monitors. I'm sure you could tweak that in the .ini if one wanted more. And yes, this game is equally played for the campaign as it was for the MP, so even though the latter isn't supported anymore (obviously), you still get a kickass RTS game with a good SP.
