warisboring.com/articles/it-s-time-for-the-u-s-military-to-leave-south-korea/Ok, so with the new talks between North and South korea being a success, and the north issuing a very rare apology I thought it would be cool to have the first article be about the state of things on the Korean peninsula. First of all, I dont think many people realize how utterly outclassed the north is, even without the United states sticking around. The north KNOWS they stand no chance if push comes to shove, so deals being made like this one are going to be more common. They are in a position of extreme weakness. With that being said, I am curious about if anyone disagrees with the article's main point, that we should move on from that area. It sort of pisses me off that we are subsidizing their defense spending, while the south focuses on being a regional power and not defense against the north. We would obviously still be very close with south korea, they will always be allies. But the equipment and men we have there is total overkill for fighting and defeating an army straight out of the 70's.
