Alright y'all. I got out of workout synch this fall. Between my coworker going out on maternity leave (forcing me to pick up more work), random unwanted sickness (I'm the biggest wuss about colds), and my tattooing schedule (you can't work out for a few days after) I got overwhelmed. But I'm back in now. I will do better at resistance training. Hold me accountable. Because I hate it and I won't do it if left to my own devices. I worked with a personal trainer for a good bit since I know I'm garbage at it and I needed to learn techniques I could use on my own. Needless to say, I've lost most of what I learned (and she set the majority of my weights and movements so I didn't have to think about it), so that's where y'all come in I did bring back my weighted training gloves for kickboxing today. They're only a pound each, but out past your wrists after over 1000 punches, they really start to work your back and shoulder muscles. So we'll count this as my return to being a decent human being. I'm disappointed, but at least you're admitting your failure and come back. I'm self employed and do the work of three people every single day, I work day and night, and I still find enough energy and time to do my lifting. Anyway, about the boxing gloves, forget that shit, remember what I said about building strength. Performing a 1000 repetitions only makes you good at....performing a 1000 repetitions. To build strength there is no way around lifting heavy ass bar- and dumbbells in awkward positions in the 5-8 repetition 3-5 sets range. 12 or more repetitions per set is muscular endurance, 8-10 repetitions is a mix of muscle gain and muscular endurance, 5-8 is muscle size and strength increase, 1-3 repetitions is raw competition strength. There are countless methods and approaches to lifting but if there is one thing thats written in stone its rep ranges and their effects. You're cheaper, and you don't have scary Russian accents. You might change your opinion once you imagine everything I say with a very deep voice with a thick Austrian accent. Its not as bad as GET TO DA CHOPPA but its bad, like Ahnuld multiplied by 0.6.
