You're missing the point - if a word can turn from meaning a beggar to being one of the most racially charged words in the English language just because it was consistently applied to a race of people, the same can be said of dregs. The word itself is rarely the problem, it is the way it is applied, especially with consistency. I counted almost half a dozen times you used it over the last few pages.

Not being the language police, but making clearly negative comments about people based solely on their country of origin and using the same negative label to do so is, while not inherently racist, definitely not advancing level-headed thinking or rational discussion.
