Whenever there is a difficult decision to make with lives at risk, who would you rather have to make this choice? An emotional person who forms attachments to pretty much everyone or Someone who struggles with empathy. Some of the greatest politicians, businessmen and visionaries are sociopaths. They are unhindered by feelings towards other people and will do what ever it takes to get the job done. In my profession empathy is a hugely important trait for me as I am in the care industry. However if I were a CEO and had to fire hundreds of people or face the entire company collapsing, I'd certainly be wishing I could switch off my emotions like Data from Star Trek or go full Vulcan. While I doubt sociopaths are going to be shedding tears over hurtful remarks (having really thick skin) perhaps we need to stop judging them as monsters and see them as the uniquely gifted individuals that they are.

The difficulty in understanding emotions, difficulty in seeing things from other peoples points of view and the narcissism can be alien to a lot of people. I think people view sociopathy as an illness because it is a completely different way of thinking that is flat out un-relatable. If 99% of the world population were sociopaths then people who aren't sociopaths would be viewed as sick. Perhaps this isn't an illness but rather a deviation from the norm. Yes there are some jobs where sociopaths wouldn't excel, however there are other professions where they do.

All I can say is that the logical decision is not always the best one. In my experience things tend to work best when logic and emotion are keeping each other in check and working together. That said, I wouldn't judge sociopaths as all monsters either. Just the ones who do monstrous things, same as I would judge any Human that does something like that as a monster.

Yep, pretty much this. You can never totally use logic while disregarding emotion but also cannot do the opposite without serious consequences.

Furthermore most sociopaths have moral boundaries. So here is another way of looking at morality. Imagine you are unable to form emotional connections with anyone. However you do have a good understanding of the concepts of order and chaos. Your mind set is geared towards order. To be honest I don't know. There are no sources. However I am not of the opinion that feelings towards other people is the only origin of a moral compass. Maybe my wording might have suggested this, so here is how I feel. I don't really know a great deal about sociopathy. I am not at all enlightened.
