I love the Final Fantasy series.
Yes even Final Fantasy XIII (though many despised it). I have played and beaten the following Final Fantasy games: III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XII, XIII, XIII-2
Every edition has been an exciting new adventure with new places to discover, new worlds, new characters and a variation of the "rag tag group of heroes save the day" plotline that never gets old. I love all the little quirks such as:
A character called Cid Chocobos Summons (powerful summon-able creatures based on various deities) Variety of combatants from warriors, rogues and various mage types etc.
When a Final Fantasy game comes out, I look forward to it, because I'm intrigued as to what creative decisions have been made. When I play Final Fantasy, I expect an experience that is different from previous games. So I am hoping that this remake is a "REMAKE" as opposed to a "REMASTER".
I have the original Final Fantasy VII. I love that game. I have completed it at least 6 times. If the remake is just the same game with new graphics, I'm not really interested. I don't have much money and I'm not gong to waste it buying a game I already have. However if the game is different (changes in combat, new locations, new characters etc) then Square Enix has my attention.
To me, if the remake is bad, the original Final Fantasy VII still exists and is still being sold. This remake won't stop me from playing the original. I'll still play both and most likely enjoy both.
What do you think?
